Pet Portrait

I finished up the demo I started for my watercolor  class...traditional watercolor using glazes and frisket.  It's actually for a couple who have these cats they love, Spike and Tiger, and they wanted protraits, not impressions. The couple had donated for the Food Bank for 2 hours of my time, so this small watercolor was their request.

I think pet portraits are almost as difficult as portraits of children.  People love their animals, and rightly so, and want to have the artist show that tilt of the head or the regal stance....etc.  It's tricky.  Hope they like it.  The marmalade cat is looking at a moving butterfly in a ray of sun.  Gotta get some motion in there!
